New Installment in ‘Grievance Committee’ Series
Frank R. Southers gives readers a gripping account of the inner workings of the criminal justice system.
Author Frank K. Southers gives readers a captivating legal thriller set against the backdrop of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee. An exhilarating journey through the inner workings of the criminal justice system, To Get Even, the third book in the Grievance Committee series, will leave readers on the edge of their seats.
Readers join Jonathan Carter, a trial lawyer who serves on the Texas Grievance Committee, who receives death threats from an unknown source. The threats are non-specific, and Carter feels that nothing will come of them. These threats coincide with the trial of Mac McCormick, a hot-tempered attorney.
Readers are introduced to a pulse-pounding account of what happens when the law is manipulated and placed in the hands of the wrong people. Most gripping is the insight that the book gives into the competitive psyches of some lawyers. Readers follow McCormick's trial as the Grievance Committee attempts to determine whether he has done harm, and whether he deserves to have his law license suspended or be disbarred.
A fascinating look into the legal world, To Get Even promises to please readers of the first two books in the series and new readers alike. As Southers’s story unfolds, readers will, undoubtedly, be at the edge of their seats.

Remembering Dad
Author Don M. Winn pays tribute to his father with this touching
book for young readersSuperhero by Don M. Winn is the story of a young boy with a vivid imagination. In his dreams he is a superhero fighting crime with his super powers. However, when it comes to facing his toughest foes, he quickly realizes that he needs reinforcements. Fortunately for him, this occurs in the form of his father heroically waking him from his nightmare. As his father gently assures him of his safety he comes to the realization that his father is the real hero.
This is a deeply personal book for the author, written in remembrance of his father, who died when he was still quite young. Mr. Winn explains, “My dad was always my superhero. In this book I pay tribute to my love for him, and hope to remind all parents that taking the time to guide children through their fears creates a bond that lasts their whole lives.”
For Don Winn, those early bonds still influence his work today. He says, “Of all my memories of my dad, the most poignant ones are of the scary times when I needed reassurance. At those moments, my dad was my true hero.” Superhero is a touching reminder that “ordinary people doing ordinary things to help us are the most important people in our lives” and that there is no greater hero than a loving parent.
The story ends with a few well-crafted questions specifically designed to create an open dialogue between adults and children. The selection of questions includes: “What is a hero?” and “How could you be a hero?” This encourages children to share their feelings and strengthens the bond between reader and child.
Boldly illustrated in vibrant colors, Superhero is highly recommended and makes a great gift for any kids who see their dad as their own personal superhero.

Packard, gives insights to the dramatic changes that may be just over the horizon.
Dr. Satwant Kaur makes predictions about technology that often sound more like science fiction than soon-to-be reality. However, her numerous awards and accolades prove that her forecasts concerning technology are far more fact than fiction. These ideas, when they come to fruition and widespread use, will change the everyday lives of humans all over the globe. Hot on the heels of her keynote address at the 2014 IT Expo in Miami in January, Dr. Kaur shares how we can expect driving to change as technology continues to advance.
Many car companies boast within their ads that the particular car being sold at any given time is so advanced that it can drive itself. While this oft-used line might draw responses of cynicism from consumers, soon the line will be able to be used quite literally. Intelligent Transportation Environments include many components, all of which will work together to keep drivers safe and roads clear and easy to navigate.
In this new automotive environment, Intelligence will be found in two main components: vehicles, and infrastructure. Intelligent vehicles will be able to monitor drivers for signs of weariness or alcohol use as well as recognize pedestrians, other vehicles, and traffic lanes to predict and avoid collisions. These vehicles will also be able to autonomously navigate, and plan routes in real time. Intelligent infrastructures will include Intelligent highways, traffic management, and road signs, all of which will promote safety and can alter to consider weather conditions, planned roadwork, etc. While some of these changes are still far off in terms of widespread use, they are imminent. As always,Dr. Kaur eases what will be a strange transition by preparing us for what technology has in store for our collective future.
